ATI Announces Mobile Application Prototype For Power Plant Inspections

San Jose, CA - 3/1/2003 - Automation Technology, Inc. (ATI), a supplier of Collaborative Asset Management solutions for the energy industry, today announced the successful prototype of a wireless handheld application for power plant inspections. The application, when fully developed, will become another component in the popular Aware suite of applications for managing the knowledge associated with highly engineered equipment.

"We are very excited to be working on this add-on module for our existing applications. We believe a strong demand is coming for applications that enable field service personnel the convenience of being able to record and review inspections & assessments from a device that can be easily carried," proclaimed Matt Freeman at ATI. "We are actively seeking customers that want to enter into pilot projects to prove the validity of the technology for field service use".

ATI has not settled on a standard device, but instead used technology that would work across multiple platforms. At this phase of development, that provides a benefit for users that want to try various devices to determine which size device works best for their needs. It is possible that a 'one size fits all' device may not exist. Some users may wish to use devices such as PocketPC's or Palm Pilots, while others may opt for the larger tablet PCs.

The capability should appeal to OEMs, Service Providers, and Equipment Owners. All have the need to review and enter data while away from a computer screen. Needs of all three groups are being accounted for in the design of the application.
