Dominion Resources Adapts ATI's AWARE Product to Help Reduce the Number One Cause of Forced Outages

SAN JOSE, CA - 3/24/2002 - Automation Technology, Inc. (ATI), a supplier of Collaborative Asset Management solutions for the energy industries, is pleased to announce that Dominion Resources has acquired ATI's AWARE product with ALSTOM Power Inc.'s Boiler Dockit module. This move was driven to help reduce forced outages due to boiler tube failures, the number one cause of forced outages in the power generation industry.

Dominion Resources has installed the web-based AWARE product in its central office with access provided to all plant sites. Forced outages that occur due to tube failures are documented in AWARE. This enables Dominion the ability to centralize knowledge pertaining to tube failures across their fleet of generating assets. By doing this, regulatory reporting is streamlined and standardized from one central location as well.

In addition, central office engineers now have access to failure data across the fleet for analyzing failure trends and determining work scope as part of their outage planning process. By doing this across their fleet, Dominion Resources anticipates reducing one forced outage a year and ensuring reliable operation during summer peak months.
