ATI's AWARE Product Is Used To Streamline Work Approval Process During Plant Maintenance Outages
SAN JOSE, CA - 1/24/2002 -
Automation Technology, Inc. (ATI), a supplier of Collaborative Asset Management solutions for the energy industries, is pleased to announce that a major U.S. utility has acquired ATI's AWARE product to help streamline the work review and approval process during major equipment maintenance outages at two of their generating facilities.
During Outages, Boiler Inspections are routinely done to identify problems, which then requires engineers to make short and long term solutions to those problems. With every hour of an outage being critical, personnel at the generating stations needed to insure that recommended solutions were tracked, prioritized, reviewed, approved, planned, and assigned to the appropriate personnel quickly and accurately. This would ensure the plant is back online on time, and with the best chances of avoiding future unplanned outages.
The utility decided to implement the AWARE suite of software which enabled them to manage the sharing of knowledge gained during boiler outage inspections. The OEM's engineer performing the inspection records conditions found, recommendations, and priorities for each component of the boiler as they are inspected. At the end of each day, a plant engineer reviews the recommendations marked needing immediate attention, and, if he concurs with the recommendation, flags it for the planner. The planner logs onto the AWARE application, and sees a consolidated list of recommendations by component, priority, and date. He then schedules the work and assigns the work to new or existing work orders in their Indus EAM system.
To prepare for subsequent outages, the AWARE system is utilized to review recommendations that have not been implemented yet, and identify critical components that need attention during the coming outage.
