Mirant Implements ATI's Mobile Aware™ Product For Performing Handheld-based Boiler Inspections

SAN JOSE, CA - 8/20/2009 - Automation Technology, Inc. (ATI), a supplier of Equipment Knowledge Retention Solutions for the energy industry, is pleased to announce that Mirant Corporation has acquired ATI's Mobile Aware product for performing and documenting boiler inspections using a mobile hand-held device at their Dickerson Generating Station. This implementation builds on the company’s use of Aware for managing their boiler tube failure and piping inspection programs.

This move was driven by a need to improve documentation, streamline reporting, and retention of knowledge collected by the outside contractor during the outage.  Use of Mobile Aware allows the knowledge gathered to easily be disseminated during the current outage and to be used while planning for future outages. This enables the ability to centralize knowledge pertaining to the boiler conditions, and enables engineers to analyze failure trends. Reporting is streamlined and standardized from one central location as well.
